Phasing is one of the most distinct sounds in Rock and Roll. The soothing swirling wave of sound can be enough to entrance anyone to the stage to hear the coolness coming out of your stompbox. In the “Quantum Drive” mod the the Boss PH-2 Super Phaser we take the wet signal of this pedal and flood it with phase. We begin with boosting the input and output levels as well as the tone to assure not only that there is not the typical volume drop associated with phasers as well as making the highs sparkle and bass notes swell to assure every note is heard with distinction. We also increase the rate and resonance from the stock values to provide even more tonal options out of this old favorite. The add on of the “Rate Warp” switch gives you the option of switching between the stock sound and modded values. The “Reso-Filter” switch mod gives you the ability to at a moments notice drastically change the resonance in the phasing. For a final audio melee you can add the “Opto-Mod” switch. Incorporating a flashing LED this mod allows the player to take the pedal from stock swell rates to rates well below and above stock turning the pedal into an incredible quantum throbbing time bending machine.

So at this point I have both the modded boss ds-1 and the os-2. Neither pedal in its original form ever interested me but damn! The ds-1 now sounds more like a big muff but with the sound of tubes sagging to perfection. I use this one for single note phrasing mostly. The os-2 i got for chords. It goes anywhere from light overdrive to…I can't even describe it. Face melting for sure but the clarity and note separation! Anyone who hasn't heard these is missing out!
